Mikey Snot Is Great
Franken 1, republicans ?

In an ideal world we would not need the Federal government to watch over us. One of the most extreme examples why we need the Feds is The Franken Amendment. The amendment which past the Senate by a 68 to 30 vote will withhold defense contracts from companies if they restrict their employees from taking workplace sexual assault, battery and discrimination cases to court.

Facing South reported, “The case of Jamie Leigh Jones made national news when she spoke out publicly about being drugged and gang-raped by her fellow KBR/Halliburton employees while in Baghdad. Jones, who was 19 at the time of the attack, was then imprisoned in a shipping container and threatened with the loss of her job after reporting the incident. Upon returning to the United States, Jones was told she could not sue her employer because the fine print of her employment contract prohibited litigation, and allowed only private arbitration. Jones has testified about her experience before Congress, and in September a federal appeals court ruled that her lawsuit against Halliburton could proceed to trial instead of arbitration.” It only took 3 - 4 years, but the Federal Court system is doing their job.

The question is why would 30 republican senators vote against The Franken Amendment? They say the Federal government should not be regulating corporate business. But they think it’s OK to withhold funds from non-for profits like Acorn. What’s going on in these republicans’ minds? Is it greed? Is it moral outrage? Is it hated for the Democratic Party or the fact that the President is half black? It’s greed and the fact that Acorn registered people who voted Democrat which negatively affects the people the republican senators are getting their money from and the chance the senators will loss their position of power. This means less money, less power, and less control over the hard working Americans.

PS: The government should withhold money and federal contracts from any business, non-for profit, or other organization that breaks the law and restricts their employees from taking court action when needed.
