Music used to play an important part of my life but sometime over the last 7 years I’ve changed. I realized this a couple of years ago but it’s been hitting home lately. I’d like to thank Mikey for posting my rants. He’s been a friend of mine for around 20 years and was willing to post my blog even though I’m not a punk rocker and never have been. I’ve hung around punks for a long time and used to work the door at the Mikey’s house even though I looked like Jerry Garcia, he fucked my mom back in 62. No not really but I like the look on the dead heads faces when I said that. Sorry mom. Anyone remember the night of green gin that I made people drink to get back in the door, thank James for that. If I haft to define my musical taste I’d say alternative classic rock. My taste ranges from Pete Seiger to the Dead Kennedys. My favorite punk bands are the DKs and the Germs which is where I’m aging myself. I can’t say who my favorite band is bu t it’s not the Grateful Dead. The Dead shows were the most fun I’ve had at a major venue. But the Dead heads really pissed me off in the late 80’s and early 90’s. They acted like they were seeing god instead of just having fun. One more thing to any Dead Heads who may be reading this, Jerry Garcia was a musical genius not god unless god is a selfish prick. But when it comes to true musical genius Pete Townsend and Frank Zappa are on the top of my list. When you get a chance, listen to The Who’s Tommy and Quadrphenia (not the movie sound tracks). When it come to Zappa, he set the stage for free speak in music or was that Pete Seiger and Woody Guthery. Sorry I regress, Zappa went way beyond what was socially acceptable, creating music with social, political and comical (perverse) overtones. Which is why it made it easy for me to make the jump to listening to punk rock. Ever see Mikey sing or listen to him rant? I love being able to give Mi key a compliment and shit at the same time. But now to the point, I don’t run home and turn the music up or on for that matter. I used to but not now. I wish I knew why or when it happened to me but now I’ll put on CNN or the Simpsons instead of putting in a CD and turning the music up. I don’t have any mp3s but that comes from my audiophile classic rock roots. This whole rant came to mind after looking at all the bands on Mikey’s MSIGARMY My Space page. I admire how he still keeps it up. The puck thing not his dick, I could care less if his dick ever gets hard again and maybe if it didn’t he stop hitting on me. When did this turn into a Snot roast, I’ve been watching too much Comedy Central.
