Apocalypse Hoboken and Oblivion reunion show - December 29, 2006 - Abbey Pub, Chicago, IL
It was like 1996 all over again...Apocalypse Hoboken and Oblivion playing a sold out show together. Some things have changed, this time it wasn't at the Fireside Bowl, it wasn't an all ages show and there was no Hammer.
The show was great, both bands played long sets with favorites the crowed went crazy for.
I don't have anything else to say, just look through the pictures and enjoy this little story from the time I went on tour with Apocalypse Hoboken:
1996, San Diego, CA - Hoboken had just played a show at SOMA and as we did after every show on this tour we began a long night of drinking, well at least Scott and I did. Some people invited the whole band over to their apartment for a party so of course we accepted. We drank all the beer and whiskey they had (a half gallon bottle of Jack Daniels) but we didn't think it was time to stop drinking, shit, we were still awake! Earlier in the day before the show Scott, Kurdt and I had gone to TJ to buy tequila and switchblades so we drank the tequila that Scott and I had purchased. Once those two bottles were gone and everyone else in the band was asleep we thought we'd just go get Kurdt's bottle of tequila. He was sleeping in the van and our plan was to just go into his bag in the van and take his bottle of tequila but our plan went awry when Kurdt woke up! We tried to explain that we needed to drink his tequila but he just said something about the tequila being his and how he bought it for his girlfriend and we couldn't have it. Not ones to give up so easily we (actually I think it may have been just me) decided that we'd have to start breaking bottles in the parking lot of this apartment building until Kurdt gave us the tequila or the police came. Kurdt didn't seem to believe us so we were forced to go back into the apartment and get a case of empty beer bottles and start breaking them right next to the van, explaining that we'd run off when we heard the sirens and he'd end up being the one arrested. Well, our plan worked and he gave us the bottle of tequila. That bottle of tequila sucked, it tasted like dirt and I don't think we even finished it.
Next time Apocalypse Hoboken does a show and I review it I'll tell you about the time that same tour that Scott and I demanded that Kurdt give us the shirt he was wearing of a band we didn't like so we could piss on it and light in on fire. |
