When I get bored I tend to waste time on the Internet. Go figure. I have been running the MSIG site on and off for now for almost 10 years. This May will be ten years. It has never garnered much attention outside of my sphere of influence with family and friends. Folks out of the loop would stumble upon it in search engine queries and would take the time to send me praise emails. I only received a few hate mails. Lucky me. Other than the time from the end of 2002 till November 2004, the site was down while I tended to family issues.

Re-launched in 2004 the site has been gathering a little following, which makes me feel good. I need things to cheer me up and one of the best ways is to see the fruits of my labor being enjoyed by strangers finding MSIG on the World Wide Web.

I was checking my traffic results for this month and was looking at all the traffic from sites linking to MSIG. I have the capabilities to see where traffic is coming from, which pages are being viewed, how often and who is a repeat visitor, etc. Well today I was looking the domain sources of the networks the visitor is connected to the Internet, which gives me an idea of where traffic is coming from.

I get lots of visitors on servers from all over the world. Lots of dot edu extensions. But last week I was drawn to the fact that the last few years we have been found through search engines queries using the terms "amputee". Now why would folks using those search words end up at MSIG? Well after digging most of them are coming from Germany on military bases. I think you could see why they are coming from there. It is our soldiers who have received life-altering disfigurements looking for answers on the web. Why are they coming here, well, Laslow the friend of an amputee could explain that one...

So why am I welcoming the CIA and Department of Homeland Security?

Going through my lists I start seeing domains with the suffix, dot gov. That is the suffix for Government based networks. Apparently the CIA and DHS have an interest in MSIG.

Why? Maybe they like punk rock? Or maybe they like the radio shows? Hell, Laslow and Buzz are sexy guys so maybe they are after them? Could it be Jeff Gannon using some Goverment facilities to look for more meat? Or maybe they are bored like me and are just surfing and looking at their favorite Demolition Dollrods picture on MSIG.

Maybe but I doubt it.

I may never know why those two agencies would take fancy to MSIG. Maybe I don't want to know.
