Well now. Apparently there is more to fear in America than just the "terrorists", introducing the new fear flavor of the month, well actually xenophobia and racism have always played into the Republican deck of tricks, but here they are dragging them out again to deflect attention from the naked emperor.

Illegal immigrants.

The scourge of American society, the threat to democracy as we know it.

Well are they?

Lets look at this issue from both sides of the argument.

Let me ask you why would someone risk their lives to cross deserts, climb retaining walls, swim rivers to come here to work? Is it all the high paying CEO jobs that they are after? Is it to stick it to Joe six-pack and take his union job from him? Is it to move into your neighborhood and sell drugs to your kids?

Fuck no.

These people are desperate. They are coming here to better their lives, to make a living to put "food on their family". And can you blame them? They are doing whatever it takes to get here because if they don't they are bound to a life of misery. Nobody would come here if they did not have it bad back where they came from. Desperation knows no bounds.

These people are victims. They are victims of Monroe Doctrine. They are victims of poverty. They are victims of war and oppression, some as a direct result of US foreign policy. And they are coming here to give themselves a chance at a better life.

Once again, can you blame them? We are after all the greatest country in the world! Right?!?!?

So the argument goes that they are coming here and taking jobs from US citizens. Coming in as illegal aliens, they are willing to work for less pay to do the "hard work" that Americans, we are told, do not want to do.

Hard work, huh. Maybe they could help George Bush out at the White House with his "hard work".

But the work they are coming here to do is just that. Jobs that "should" be good paying jobs are being farmed out to illegals for less money. Doing the same work Americans were doing for less pay means more profit for whom? And that is the reality that no one in Congress wants to address. Who is profiting from the workers coming here and what does Congress want to do regulate this conundrum?

Let's make illegal aliens, "Illegal". Why that makes sense to me! The first rounds of legislation shows that they want to make it illegal to offer aid or comfort to the "illegal" person. Some have suggested giving them amnesty, which is nice but does not solve the problem. The real problem is the companies, corporations and business owners that are taking advantage of this "situation". In some or most cases, the companies are ripping these workers off. They are shorting their pay, or in some cases not paying at all for work already performed.

"What are you going to do about it huh, wetback?" Call the cops?

No the solution is simple. A little draconian but hey, "desperate times call for desperate measures." And it won't cost the taxpayer a dime and will pay for itself in regulation... That is correct, regulation. The dreaded "R" word. Apparently, you see, Congress thinks regulation is good for you but not business. Makes sense to me in a democratic society.

Wait. No it doesn't.

Your company has 10 undocumented workers working in your fields, landscaping your property, cleaning you toilets. That is a ten thousand dollar fine buddy. One thousand dollars per alien for first time offenders.

Second time offenders, ten thousand PER alien. And the third time is a charm; your company assets are frozen and are seized by Uncle Sam. Hey if they could do it to you they could do it to big business. Watch how quickly business comply and you will see a dramatic decrease in aliens sneaking over the border for work, because the business' fear of being caught hiring undocumented workers. No jobs, no need for workers to come here.

Three strikes you out. Correct righty?

Of course this will never happen. Not with this government. You see we like to criminalize the victim, the drug user, and the rape victim in this country. Not one bill passed in the last six years has been to improve the Americans way of life. Patriot Act I and II, Bankruptcy Bill, the No Child Left Behind, Clean Air Initiative, etc. etc.

Congress likes to put band-aids on severed limbs, if their campaign contributors could make a buck on your misery.

So it goes.

No the solution to the problem in W's AmeriKKKa is to build big "Illegal Immigration Facilities" to house these people. No bid contracts to the rangers and pioneers of the Bush administration to profit once again and not solve one problem. Criminalize the poor and create a whole new class of aristocrats, shrink the middle class, increase the poor class and declare martial law.

Problems equal profit.
